Yes, library hours should be extended during examinations so that students have adequate time and a suitable environment to prepare. This should be discussed with the university administration, library authorities and concerned residential halls to ensure that the arrangement is feasible. For female students, extending library hours must go hand in hand with reviewing hostel curfew timings. If women students are expected to benefit from longer library hours, their residential rules must allow them to use these facilities without unnecessary restrictions. The objective should be equal access to academic resources for all students, regardless of gender.

  • Responded

Yes, library hours should be extended during examinations, and as a candidate for the AMUSU cabinet, I will make it a priority. Exams are decided in the final weeks, yet many students live in crowded hostels or shared homes where focused study is difficult, and those without private space depend on the library most. Keeping reading rooms open till midnight or later during exams, with dates announced in advance, is a low-cost fix, since the infrastructure already exists. I will work with the administration on staff rosters, lighting and security, especially for students returning to hostels late, because our library should be open when we need it most.

  • Absolutely yes. Library hours should be extended not only during examinations but throughout the year, and the University and Engineering book banks should be open 24/7. As a central university, AMU should maintain a global standard. Department seminar libraries should also be open from 8 AM to 8 PM. improve digital access to the Maulana Azad Library, and make seminar-library books available.

  • Responded

Absolutely, yes. I believe library hours should be extended during examinations because every student deserves sufficient time and access to a peaceful study environment. Not every student has the same facilities in their hostel or room, and the university library plays a crucial role in academic preparation. As a candidate for Cabinet Member, AMUSU — Faculty of Arts, I would raise this demand with the concerned authorities and advocate for extended library hours, including late-night access during examinations, subject to feasibility and proper security arrangements. My priority is clear: student welfare, academic support, and equal opportunities for every student. Students' genuine concerns deserve to be heard and followed up with action.

  • Responded

Yes, library hours should definitely be extended during examinations. As a final-year Master’s student in the Life Science faculty, I know how crucial uninterrupted access to books and a quiet study space becomes during exam time. Many of us stay late to revise practical notes and other study work. Extending library hours (and ensuring proper facilities like lighting, Wi-Fi, and security) would greatly support serious students who need a focused environment beyond regular class hours. It is a practical step that directly benefits academic performance and shows that the university prioritises students’ needs during critical periods.
