The university should provide accessible, confidential, and professional mental health and counselling support for every student. Student suicides are a serious concern, and the campus needs a stronger system for early intervention, emotional support, and suicide prevention.

My manifesto proposes a more responsive counselling centre that does not rely solely on students approaching it themselves. I would advocate for greater awareness of available services, regular outreach and clear information about how students can seek help. The university should be encouraged to provide trained counsellors who understand student concerns, including academic stress, adjustment difficulties and personal challenges. Confidentiality, accessible appointments and timely responses should be central to the service. Students should be able to seek support without fear of judgement or unnecessary disclosure of personal information. Both male and female students should have access to appropriate counselling, with a safe and respectful environment for discussing sensitive concerns. Where necessary, students should also be directed towards qualified mental health professionals for further support.

Counselling cells should be activated in every residential hall, with qualified psychologists available in each. Students’ anonymity and confidentiality must be ensured.

Placement and internship support is one of the most important needs of Life Science students, especially in the final year. As a Master’s student of Botany, I understand how difficult it becomes when students have to search for internships and job opportunities on their own, with limited guidance and almost no dedicated support from the faculty side. As a Court member, my authority is limited. I cannot create a placement cell or appoint officers on my own. However, I can work in these practical ways: - Strongly raise the demand for a dedicated Training & Placement support system focused on Life Science students. - Collect the concerns and requirements of students regarding internships, industrial exposure, and career guidance, and present them properly before the faculty authorities. - Advocate for more quality internships, workshops, seminars, and industry-oriented programmes that are relevant to Life Science streams. - Coordinate with the administration and other representatives so that the need for better placement and internship support remains under continuous discussion. - Keep Life Science students informed about any opportunities or progress related to this issue. My effort will be to ensure that the genuine need of Life Science students for proper placement and internship support is raised consistently and effectively at the right forums.

I would support confidential and accessible counselling services and greater awareness of available help. Stress-management sessions and reduced stigma around mental health should also be encouraged
